Basic Black Ink Pad

Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad Update

Straight from Stampin’ Up! Headquarters, April 18, 2014

As previously reported, we’ve been trying to rework our Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad for quite some time and have tried many different formulas to improve the ink’s dry time when used on Whisper White or Very Vanilla Cardstock; unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful so far.

We will continue to look for ways to improve our Basic Black ink; but in the meantime, please use the Jet Black StazOn Pad when stamping on Whisper White or Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Please note: The Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad still works great with our colored cardstock.

I will keep you posted on the status of the Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad improvements.  In the mean time, I highly recommend the StazOn Jet Black ink pad (#101406, Price: $7.95).  We also carry the StazOn Jet Black ink refill (#102566, $4.95).  Remember that if you buy the refill with the pad, you will be able to re-ink the pad many times (these re-inkers last a very long time!) and not have to buy a new pad every time it gets dry.  You can go to my Online Store HERE to buy the pad and refill.

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch Cards

??????????The new Scalloped Tag Topper punch from the 2014 Occasions Catalog is more than just a punch to put a nice top on your handmade tags or bookmarks.  You can use it as you see above to make a variety of closures for simple to elegant cards.

All three cards use the beautifully elegant Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (Item #126926) which has a black design with a background in Very Vanilla.  In this way you can use any additional color of card stock to accent the papers and provide a splash of color.

The Scalloped Tag Topper Punch (#133324) is used on these cards but you can also use the Angled Tag Topper Punch (#133323) for a more masculine look.  The sentiments are cut out using the Labels Collection Framelits dies (125598); a collection of 6 layering dies.  Both sentiments are from the Happy Watercolor stamp set in the 2014 Occasions Catalog and come in either wood mount or clear mount.

For the card on the left, Very Vanilla 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon (#120999) was used and for the other two cards, Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon (#119261) was used.

Although it is difficult to see, the card on the far right has only one of the tag tops cut out and is secured with a small 1/8″ Mini Brad (#122941).

I hope these examples give you some great ideas for your own Tag Topper Punch cards!  You can buy any of these products from my Online Store HERE.

Z-Card Ideas

Do you wonder what a Z-card is?  Here are a couple of examples.

??????????The card on the left is made with the base is Whisper White card stock then pieces of the Quatrefancy Specialty designer paper are added (item #130141).  The Mosaic Punch (#131267) images are done in Daffodil Delight (#119683), Pool Party (#122924), and Strawberry Slush (#131295) card stock with a few mosaics cut from the Quatrefancy designer paper.  The “hello” comes from the stamp set, Four You, and comes in either wood mount or clear mount.  The banners are cut out using the new Banners Framelits Dies (#132173, $26.95) from the 2014 Occasions Catalog.

The Z-card on the right also starts with the Whisper White card stock base and then the Hardwood background stamp is used.  As you may be able to see in the photo, the bottom half of the back panel is left blank so that someone can write a brief message.  The flowers are from the Flower Shop stamp set and cut out with the Pansy Punch (#130698).  The butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and cut out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch (#127526).  The sentiment is from the Label Love stamp set with the  coordinating Artisan Label punch (#130920).

I hope you like this and that they give you some inspiration for your own Z-cards.  If you would like to purchase any of these items, please check out my Online Store HERE.
